Donkey from the Shrek of History. Shrek - Multopedia. We have already arrived

In 2001, the world screens released a cartoon "Shrek", which won the hearts of millions of viewers of different ages. Particular sympathy for the audience caused his characters: Shrek, Princess Fiona and their friends described with a fair amount of humor and satire. So, who are they - the heroes of the famous cartoon?

Ogre Shrek

In a series of cartoons about the man Shrek, mostly non-original characters are involved. Shrek and his friends came to us from the stories of well-known fairy tales, just their images were slightly corrected and presented in the postmodern light.

Holidays are an ideal occasion for your child to increase your leisure and fun, strengthen their progress and develop new skills. Jokes stimulate good humor, encourage laughter, develop vocabulary and entertain children. Laughter is the main component of children's health.

The site presents new children's films for children who have passed the cinema. Adventure films, actions and values. Some fun and others to think about. Recommended books for children with children and lessons in childhood. 300 children's games. Teaching aids for parents and professionals. Games to let the children think. Games month after month for a happy child. Games for the development of the intellect of a child from 2 to 3 years.

The protagonist named Shrek is a typical ogre giant from Western folklore. This image was first used under this name by writer William Steig in his children's book "Shrek!". On motives of this work the whole animated franchise was then removed.

The hero of the eponymous cartoon has green skin and elongated ears in the form of a tube. Shrek is tall, his stomach is slightly bulging. Ogre wears a beige canvas shirt, a waistcoat and dark brown trousers.

There are such wonderful things as a smile or a laughing baby! For the father there is nothing better than to see his son happy, radiant, with a smile from ear to ear. Laughter is one of the distinctive features  rights. Have you seen any animal when he is happy? The sense of humor and laughter are the exclusive acts of the human intellect.

We all strive for beauty, because since childhood we have learned through many channels that beauty is associated with happiness, goodness, success and better acceptability by others. Bears are still the embodiment of tenderness, awkwardness and sweetness. Bears accompany and grow with their children. They invaded the stuffed animals, cartoons, documentaries, films and literature. However, the figure of a lonely bear who fights for survival, a gluttonous bear that licks itself with honey or a friendly bear, is replaced by a crazy bear without restrictions.

Shrek is unsociable and prefers to live exclusively in swamps. He does not really like the guests and most of all he is gloomy. The only one who agrees to tolerate such behavior is the sociable Ass and Princess Fiona, who genuinely loves the good-natured giant.

Character of the cartoon "Shrek" Princess Fiona

At the beginning of the first part of the franchise Fiona appears before us a beautiful princess in human form. She lives in an abandoned castle and waits until the charming prince saves her. But instead of the prince comes a rough and ugly Shrek. He was sent to the princess by a certain Lord Farquad, promising in return to release the house of the ogre from the fairy-tale creatures. Fiona is left with nothing but to obey and follow the green liberator to the castle of his future fiance Farquad. So the main animated characters are introduced.

We allow ourselves to fly with the balloons of Mr. Carl Fredriksen, with dreams and children's adventures of Ellie, as well as with the researcher, the enthusiastic and optimistic feeling of the little Russell. Communication education, education of children, children's videos. In short, the state that turned this adaptation into the most expensive film of German cinema. And although there were a few humble figures in the United States, he embraced globally in order to reach the 100 millionth box office and thus became one of the phenomena of this year's youth.

Despite the fact that Michael Ende seemed "a disgusting film." Although Ende asked for cooperation in the script of the film, everything did not end as he would have liked. He imagined a more subtle film, and the conflict between writer and producer Bernd Einchinger erupted already from the very beginning of filming.

Shrek is not very friendly with the princess. And yet, during their journey, they managed to feel each other feelings. Then it turns out that Fiona is dominated by a curse: at night she becomes as green and ugly as Shrek. After much meditation, Fiona abandons her beauty, kisses the unattractive, but devoted and good-natured Shrek, and then turns forever into an ogre.

They just wanted to make money, "he regretted. Like many of the blockbusters of the eighties, Spielberg also found himself in The Endless Story. The filmmaker helped Wolfgang Petersen cut the American version  the film, which is seven minutes shorter than the European version. And as gratitude Petersen gave him Aurin, a medallion of two snakes intertwined in the form of a lemniscate, and which Spielberg keeps in his office as gold in cloth.

But it was not so, and the film, although it contained characters from the second section of the book, rather similar to the style without a special personality. The analysis proposed here is intended for animators and educators who will see a film with a wide audience. He offers a deeper reflection on this film and, in particular, on how he "engages" the viewer during the vision.

In subsequent cartoons, Fiona and Shrek were married and brought in three children.

A donkey

The cartoon is filled with interesting characters, but there are simply unforgettable characters. Shrek goes to rescue Fiona from the tower for a couple with a boring Oslo. The donkey talks a lot and may seem stupid, but in fact he is just a sociable and good-natured animal.

Christina simply lost her grandmother, to whom she was very attached. The reading of the will creates a big surprise for the whole family: the "Nenna" had a house in Corsica, which she bequeathed to Christina, and although everyone advises her to sell this house, Christina can not bring herself to get rid of this good without even seeing it. On a whim, she goes to Corsica and discovers the house, but also part, until then ignored, about the past of her grandparents. Then the project sprouts to settle there, on the advice of his parents and his companion.

This first feature film by Pierre Duculo beautifully depicts a young woman who has not yet found her place. The film's vision will open a dialogue on the topics that it touches: conflicts between parents and children, the independence of women, a personal desire to resist the limitations of reality, as well as its specificity and aesthetics.

His habit of saying out loud everything that he thinks, The donkey irritates the ogre. But it is this hero who succeeds in convincing Shrek that he must take the risk for his love, go to the marriage ceremony of Fiona and Lord Farquad and confess to the princess in her feelings.

Subsequently, the Ass will become a friend of the family and will compete for the title of best friend with Kot in boots. Another piquant fact: the Donkey will start an affair with the Draconiha, who has guarded Fiona in the castle, the characters will be married and they will have children-hybrids.

When it comes to criticism or analysis of a film, two antagonistic tendencies arise. The first goal is a certain universality of the subject. Even if the story of each film is unique and depicts individuals, it is often tempting to make a more general statement that goes beyond the film and its characters. Moreover, a film whose message resonates with the world and society or, more modestly, with the personality of the viewer, is likely to be appreciated by a film whose scale does not seem to go beyond its simple history and only the characters.

But this generalization of the subject, which is the interpretation of each viewer, is closely related to the history and experience of the viewer. Thus, before the film, how, the audience will certainly be more sensitive than viewers to Christina's "impotence" from the people around him, which they can read as an example of machismo in everyday life.

Puss in Boots

A colorful hero in the animated series is considered not only ogre Shrek. Characters whose names did not go away from the mouth of enthusiastic children - this is the Cat in boots, and Robin Hood, and the Fairy godmother.

The cat in boots appears in the second part of the franchise and becomes a full participant in the ensemble of the protagonists of the cartoon. He wears a tiny sharp saber on his belt, and also often uses a distracting maneuver in battle: he makes big sad eyes, but as soon as his opponent regrets, he hits the most vulnerable place.

This type of interpretation is subject to discussion, and the generalization of the subject can be perceived by other viewers as offensive. For example, on the successes and awards received by the film "The Untouchables", viewers spoke on Internet forums to condemn a kind of idyllic vision of the obstacle that the film would give, while the reality of most people with disabilities is much more difficult than the character of the film. This interpretation, of course, is offensive, since the exceptional character of a rich hero is exactly the opposite of generalization.

According to the plot, the Cat in boots worked as a hired killer before he met the ogres. Fiona's father hired the Cat to remove the uncomfortable groom. But during the attack on the ogre Coth choked his hair, and Shrek did not take advantage of the weakness of the enemy and saved his life. After that, the hot Spanish Cat declared that Shrek had become his friend forever.

The author of the film probably did not want to paint a picture of disability, but focus on the privileged relationship between a disabled person and someone else. Thus, the question of the "themes" of the film, which could be generalized to a larger reality, can become a subject of discussion between spectators and counter the alleged intentions of the author of the film.

The second critical tendency arising from the discourse around the film, contrary to the generalization, emphasizes the specifics of the film, what this film does and not for others, is to whom we like it or not. What are the features of the film that distinguishes it from others? In this perspective, we can consider, in particular, various dimensions of cinematic creativity, from the script to the production.

Osly did not like this news: he was jealous of Shrek to the Cat, so for a long time he tried to survive a red purr from their friendly company.

Fairy-godmother

Shrek found a new life in this project. So the kind Fairy-godmother from the fairy tale about Cinderella suddenly turned into the main antagonist in the second part of the franchise.

In "Shrek" Fairy appears before the viewer of a calculating business lady. She is kept compromising on the first persons of the fairy-tale state, including the king. By force, she forces Father Fiona to foster a family relationship with her daughter and make her recognize her husband as Prince Charming (son of the Fairy godmother). However, the machinations of this heroine go to rubble: Shrek still found a way to escape death and came to the ball to free Fiona from evil spells with a kiss. From anger, the Fairy-godmother burst and turned into soap bubbles.

One could distinguish three themes in which viewers can recognize a social phenomenon or social problem: a generation conflict, a desire to "realize" that faces limitations of reality, women's autonomy. Other interpretational frameworks can be used and other topics developed, but we decided to use these three.

Let's first develop a feminist dimension of the film. However, reading her will when her family finds out that she now owns a house in Corsica, her father says: "It's best to sell it" and asks the notary if he can. So, Alberto, Christine's father, seems to have already made a decision about this house that belongs to her adult daughter, but no one asks Christina what she plans to do, as if the decision. Of course, his father-in-law, who calls him "heir" Gino, is the father of the father who says he inherited most of the difficulties.

Prince Charming

Shrek, Donkey and the Cat in boots for two cartoons are opposed to the treacherous Prince Charming.

The beautiful prince in ordinary fairy tales is a good character. But in "Shrek" this character is the son of a hypocritical Fairy godmother, and by nature is a narcissistic, self-confident scoundrel.

Gino advises Christina not to sell this house too quickly, it does not mean that he needs to think, but wait for the price increase! Finally, Christina's companion, Marco, would prefer to inherit fifteen thousand euros from his grandmother and does not want to go into the house, "since in any case we will sell it." Then, when he finally promised Christina to ask for a vacation to go to Corsica, he does not fulfill this promise, provoking the wrath of his companion, who decides to go away. In addition, Cedric, Pizcayolo, seeks to persuade Christine to abandon this project in the near future, claiming that she is not equipped for this trip and that she has not reserved anything.

In the second part of the franchise Prince Charming tries to convince Fiona that he is her husband Shrek. Allegedly, Shrek drank the potion and turned into a man specifically for her. But this lie is exposed at the end of the animation film. Prince Charming returns to the screens in the third release: this time he tries to take the throne from Fiona and Shrek. The villain manages to realize his treacherous plan: Fiona with other fabulous heroines goes underground, and Shrek at the same time trying to convince Prince Arthur that the young man is worthy to rule the Far Ended Kingdom.

Thus, at the beginning of the film there are several men to tell Christina what she should do, and not doubt for a second that she can not share her point of view. Everything happens as if Christine was denied the ability to choose, make her own decisions, respond.

Her hasty departure to Corsica is a surprise and a sign to her loved ones who did not expect her to take such an initiative, so when she returns they will become more "gentle", for example, Marco, Christina is interested in home, but he still asks her to be "reasonable". In response to Cristina's wrath, he objects that he does not want to do something, that we regret all of ours. She says she knows what she does not want to regret, and we note that Marco speaks on behalf of the couple when his partner speaks only for himself.

In the final of the third film, Charming is again defeated, and King Arthur ascends to the throne.

Draconic

The most comical couple in the cartoon can be called Draconia and Donkey. They met when Aussie came to rescue Fiona with Shrek. Being incredibly charming, he immediately won the heart of a big and ardent lady. It was Draconicha on his back that brought Shrek and Osla to the church, so that they would upset the marriage of Fiona and Lord Farquhad.

Christina finds her undeclared work in her father-in-law's pizzeria, and we learn that without paying her salary she can not take a loan to repair her house in Corsica and that it is for her that his projects are not being fulfilled, that Gino does not offer him a contract for work. This surprise, which the young woman should like, but also distract her from Corsica, experiences it as a final restriction and a new form of her husband's dependence on her relatives, Christina feels dazed and again leaves for Corsica, decided to settle there.

Then in each film, Draconicha helped the main characters defend their interests. In one of the series, the Ass and Draconich get married and they have "dragonflies".

Characters from "Shrek": a list of secondary heroes

Who else is famous fairy-tale characters  you can see in the cartoon about the giant lyudode?

1. Merlin. The famous mage and wizard from British folklore appears in the third part of the franchise.

Thus, Christine prevents her male environment from living the way she wants, even if this environment loves and thinks well. His second departure for Corsica and his installation there can be seen as the result of his emancipation. Other small details go in the same direction of describing the inequality between men and women: when Christina causes the opportunity to settle in Corsica, Marco reminds her that all their friends are in Belgium, to which Christina answers that in any case we see only yours; my does not please you.

As an excuse, Marco responds that he does not like his friends around him, as Cedric does. This scene indicates that the pair supports Marco's friends and that she is rather jealous: two signs of the bottom or bottom place that come to Christina's pair.

2. King Arthur. Although the knight of Camelot, is a real historical character, in the cartoon biography of the famous ruler interpreted a little differently.

3. Rapunzel. The long-haired princess turned out to be a traitor and in the third film of the franchise she helped Charming to carry out a coup d'état.

And also in a glimpse of "Shrek" appear Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Rumpelshtiltshen and many other heroes of fairy tales.

In 2001, before the gaze of amazed spectators, a full-length animated film  Shrek. Everyone was amazed not only computer graphics  and the depiction of characters, but also postmodern banter over a whole layer of European medieval culture - fairy tales. "Shrek" was immediately awarded "Oscar" and several other, not less prestigious awards. The cartoon is based on the book of the same name by William Steig.

The world of Shrek

Before us - a fairy kingdom, inhabited by friends from childhood personalities. It is inhabited by Rapunzel, three piglets, Snow White and Gray Wolf. Shrek himself lives near the city-state of Dulok, in the surrounding marshes. The population of the megalopolis is dolls, mythical animals and even people. The city is ruled by an evil little man - Lord Farquad. Once he arranges a massive deportation of fairy-tale heroes, and they all move to Shrek's marsh. The giant does not like it, and he goes to "showdown".

Key Figures

  1. Shrek. The central character of the whole cycle of cartoons. This is a hefty green ogre, which superstitious local people consider an ogre. Nevertheless, Shrek is quite peaceful. True, he gives an unspeakable pleasure to the process of frightening others. The giant watches himself - he takes mud baths, drinks "eye" cocktails and cleans his teeth with caterpillars. The interior decoration of his monastery, shined with candles from real ear shells, also looks eerie. And the dwelling itself is an old stump, instead of windows in which holes are gaping.
  2. Fiona.  The image of this heroine of the epic "Shrek" is inspired by the stories of "Cinderella", "Sleeping Beauty" and "Snow White". Fiona parodies the established cliches of the Disney princess. During the day she pretends to be a sweet creature, and at night reincarnates as a giant-ogre and considers herself an eerie monster, on which no one will want to marry. In the second part of the trilogy it turns out that she has parents who rule the kingdom "far away". The princess owns martial arts and easily throws a crowd of hooligans. Gradually, we discover other talents of Fiona - she is a good mother and a loving daughter.
  3. A donkey.  A unique speaking donkey, the only one in the fairy-tale kingdom. He makes a lot of noise, stupid and bothersome. At the same time, he is smart enough and prone to studying law - remember the episode with the contract of Rumpelspiltshchen. Accidentally imposed on the protagonist as a companion. Friendship with the great carried through many years. Tends to marry unions with dragons, in which causes inexplicable sympathy.
  4. Puss in Boots.  In the film he appeared in the form of an assassin who skillfully owns a sword and other types of cold weapons (including claws). Seducer and ladies' man. On Osla looks down. Looks like a striped red-haired kotyara, wearing a raincoat, hat and ... boots, oddly enough. He has a unique talent - to build eyes. Applying this insidious technique in battle, dumbfounded the enemy.
  5. King Harold.  It is the father of Fiona. It is characterized by low growth. The youth spent in the guise of a toad, being enchanted. He was spoiled by a fairy in exchange for a promise to marry Fiona for her son.
  6. Queen Lillian.  I have to wife Harold and mother - Fiona. If it were not for a close family relationship, we would not include it in the list of the main muleroids of the cycle.

Villains

  1. Prince Charming. Apotheosis of the image of the Beautiful Prince. Handsome, handsome, handsome. At the same time, he is extremely selfish, inclined towards narcissism, infantile and hostile. The list of shortcomings can be continued. Initially, he was preparing Mummy as Fiona's wife, until Shrek stepped in and broke the princess at the loser.
  2.   The ruler of the nearest megalopolis to the Shrek marsh. Narcissistic, arrogant and very cunning character. He's short, dresses in all the red. Strives for royal power through marriage with the princess. Evil and cunning, he hates magic creatures. After the sudden death of Farquhad, Dulok falls into decay and turns into a ghost town.
  3. The fairy godmother.  The central villain in the second part of Shrek. Mother Charming. He does evil through a magic wand, without which she is just a winged fat woman. Is able to transform animals into humans, can summon lightning. A large magical industrialist, controls a plant that produces potions. By her order, Fiona was deported to the castle at an early age, under the watchful eye of the dragon. The end of the Fairy is pitiable - it broke up into bubbles as a result of a lightning strike.

Secondary Characters

  • Gray wolf.  For the first time appears in the swamp of Shrek in the company of the expelled fairy-tale heroes. Dresses very exotic (cap and grandmother's attire), while talking bass. Became friends with Shrek and even danced at his wedding.
  • Merlin.  He once worked as a magic teacher at the walls of the Worcestershire Academy. Taught from Arthur Pendragon. After a nervous breakdown, he retired on the advice of a psychologist. The old power gradually lost with age. Can break stones with a charge. He knows the art of teleportation, but with side effects.
  • Arthur Pendragon.  Sent to Worcestershire, the son of the ruler of Pendragon. From the age of six he grew up without maternal attention. Depressive outcast, an object for ridicule and bullying. This did not prevent him from running for the post of Vladyka "Far-Faraway".
  • Rapunzel.  Originally was a friend of Fiona. Later, she turned out to be a traitor, becoming Charming's lover. In fact, she does not have hair, Rapunzel wears a wig.
  • Snow White.  Another friend of Fiona. Outwardly attractive, has a beautiful voice. Fought with Charming, neutralizing the evil dendrimutant.
  • Captain Hook.  A chronic loser, a habitue of the inn "Poisoned Apple", where he likes to play the piano, replacing the pirate musician.

The creators of the animation were able to create an exciting story, original in form and method of presentation, and at the same time deeply humanistic. The entourage is detailed, the characters are convex and memorable. Lovers of postmodern will enjoy the digging in citations. All these factors together make the cycle a landmark cultural phenomenon.
