Tractor T-16 is a self-propelled chassis, for which the people called it "Chassis". It was released as a deep modernization of the self-propelled chassis of the model DSh-14 and was widely recognized in the territory of the USSR. Summary

Model T-16 was the brainchild of Kharkov Tractor Plant (KhTZ). Its release was established in 1961. Six years later, a second modification of the car appeared, and in another - a third. Specifications

Tractor T-16, whose photo illustrates the belonging to a small traction class, has a relatively small dimensions: 3820 x 2000 x 2600 mm. At the same time, its mass is 1685 kg, and the ground clearance is 560 mm. T-16 received a two-cylinder diesel engine with a capacity of 16 horsepower (hence the name) with an air cooling system. Unusual is the fact that the motor at the tractor is located at the rear. Specific fuel consumption of the machine is 272 g / kW per hour. In the power plant, the pre-chamber method of mixture formation was applied. The prechamber is formed by a special insert, which is pressed into the head and completely fits into it. Thus, the pre-chamber occupies about a third of the volume of the combustion chamber.

The engine of the T-16 tractor consists of a number of systems: power, start-up, lubrication, cooling - and mechanisms: crank-crank and gas distribution. At the front, a gear cap is attached to it, the hatch of which is closed by a lid with a breather and a neck. At the rear of the crankcase, a flywheel casing and a starter are attached to it, and oil filters are located at the bottom. The oil pump is located in the lower part of the crankshaft support. Among other things, the engine was equipped with three filters: fuel, plate-slotted and fine filter.

The control of the T-16 tractor was carried out with the help of pedals, which were connected through links, fingers and tips with levers for control. Coupled with the engine was a manual transmission for 7 front and 1 rear gear. The main difference of the model from classic tractors was the rear location of the power plant and transmission, as well as the front location of the attachments.


The tractor's wheels were of different sizes. At the same time, it was possible to change the width of both stakes and the displacement of the center of gravity on the rear axle. Due to this chassis design, the field of application of the machine is greatly extended - it becomes available for weeding out rows and other operations for detailed processing of agricultural plantations. Frame

The frame itself was a structure of rectangular tubes with welding and bolted connections. On the chassis, it was attached by means of rubber shock absorbers in six places. The roof of the frame could be fixed in a raised state. Inside, the frame was equipped with a sun shield and a hook for clothes, and outside - rear-view mirrors and windshield wipers. In addition, a tool box was installed on the left wing of the frame.


T-16 had a sprung single-seat seat, which could be adjusted depending on the growth and weight of the tractor driver. The adjustment was carried out by changing the bowl. The hard backrest and armrests complemented the seat. It was necessary to clean it regularly, and sometimes even to tint and tighten the fastening bolts.

Since 1998, the release of the upgraded version of T-16 has been set up. The tractor began to be called T-16M. The car received a new power plant with a capacity of 25 horsepower. In this regard, some fans of heavy equipment began to incorrectly call the tractor T-16 - T-25. However, the T-25 is a completely different model, which has nothing to do with the upgraded version of the T-16.

The new engine allowed to increase the maximum speed of the tractor's forward speed to 23 km / h. The minimum speed was reduced due to the use of a speed reducer to 1.6 km / h. Thus, the scope of the machine has expanded even more. The weight of the modernized tractor increased to 1,810 kilograms.


T-16MG

In 1986, the T-16 model line was replenished with the next upgrade. The new car was equipped with a 25-strong power plant, familiar to the T-16M version. However, now the diesel engine could reach speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour. The tractor platform was equipped with a self-dumping system. There was the possibility of equipping the machine with a full metal cabin. Thanks to tipper equipment, the tractor has become more widely used in transportation operations. Production of "T-16M" continued until 1995. The minimum modification speed was lowered to 1.6 kilometers per hour.
