Igor had a disease of the pituitary gland, which led to gigantism, and he needed urgent treatment. Therefore, when he was 7 years old, his parents decided to move to the United States. Since that moment, Igor with his mother and older brother have been living in Rochester, Minnesota.

American doctors did everything possible: they treated Igor with medication, performed 16 operations, thanks to which Vovkovinsky's growth stopped at around 235 centimeters. Igor Vovkovinsky suffers greatly from his gigantic growth - his back and legs constantly hurt.

Once every two years, Igor and his family come to Ukraine to visit relatives and friends. In 2013, Igor participated in the performance of Zlata Ognevich at Eurovision.
