An essay based on a painting by A.K. Denisov-Uralsky "Forest Fire"

A connoisseur of the beauty of his native Urals, Denisov was always distinguished by the realism of what was depicted on the canvas. He realized that next to the beautiful there lurks an unbridled element that brings destruction.

The artist dedicated several of his works to the indomitable element of fire, which in the blink of an eye can turn from good into destructive evil. This strength and indomitability was portrayed by Denisov-Uralsky in his painting “Forest Fire”.

To be precise, the artist has several paintings with this name, but the first among them was painted in 1897.

Here the fire element is depicted at the peak of its power. She rushes forward, destroying everything in her path. The fire depicted by the artist inspires fear and awe.

Denisov revived his fire. He turned him into a pine-eating beast. These giant trees seem tiny compared to the flames. This proportional relationship of objects only enhances the emotional tension of the picture.

The artist’s skill is so great that he managed to convey the movement of fire: tongues of flame soaring to the sky are ready to engulf the sun itself, smoke envelops all visible space, and the heat continues to creep across the ground in small elusive snakes. It seems that a little more - and only fire will remain.

The painting is based on color contrast: shades of orange, red and gray embody death and destruction, but the trees and grass remain green. The fire has not yet reached them, and the plants are amazed by the richness of their colors. The crowns of the trees are depicted as emerald, and the grass is pale green. After all, they are still full of life, which is felt thanks to the colors chosen by the artist.

The sparkling fire and thick clouds of smoke create a breathtakingly realistic spectacle. They fully reflect the power and beauty of a forest fire, without detracting from either the first or the second.

Painting "Fire in the forest" using quilling technique

We will need:

colored cardboard;
colored paper;
double sided tape;
files;
film;
paints;
PVA glue;
frame

1. Paint the background with paints so that the blue color smoothly turns into pink and lilac. We draw silhouettes of trees on plain paper, cut them out and use them as a template. We transfer the drawing first to black cardboard, then to dark green. We cut out trees from black cardboard and paste them onto the background.

2. Cut out the green trees and glue them on top of the black ones, offset using double-sided tape. In addition, you can also cut out grass from green cardboard, which we also attach using tape.

3. Prepare green strips for quilling in light and dark shades and roll them into circles. Coat the file with PVA glue and place circles on it. This will be the crown of our trees. Once the glue has dried, cut out the crown and glue it to the trees.

4. Twist circles from red and orange ribbon, squeeze them in the center and give them a twisty shape. These are tongues of flame. We glue them first to the file, then to our composition. If necessary, you can give them a more voluminous shape; to do this, they should be glued to a plastic bottle.

5. Add flowers to the picture.

6. Now let's make an owl. Cut out a circle (diameter 3.5 cm) from gray paper.

7. Cut out a strip of gray paper 3 cm wide, fold it in half and cut the fringe.

8. Cut the strip into several pieces and glue these pieces around the perimeter of our circle.

9. Cut out 4 circles from white paper (2 small and 2 slightly larger) and cut the fringe. Glue the small circles onto the large ones (in the middle). We twist a circle from the yellow strip and form a droplet out of it. Glue the eye pads and nose to the head.

10. Cut out and glue the black eyes.

11. Twist the white and gray droplets and glue them to the file in the shape of a tail and wings.

12. Cut out the body of our bird in the form of an oval from gray paper. We glue droplets over the body, then glue the wings and tail to it.

13. We make legs from 6 gray droplets.

We'll glue them on later.

14. Now let's make a bunny. We cut strips from gray paper, fold them in half, cut the fringe and roll them into rolls (one of them should be larger). Fluff the rolls and glue them together.

Essay based on the painting: A.K. Denisov - Uralsky “Forest Fire”.
A.K. Denisov-Uralsky is a famous Russian artist who dedicated his work to native land- Ural. He has several canvases of similar themes and with the same name - “Forest Fire”. They are only written in different years. In the painting, created in 1897, the artist depicted the rampant nature, sweeping away everything in its path. Looking at the canvas, you understand how terrible and dangerous fire can be. From a gentle, warming and life-giving light it turns into a monster that devours everything around.
This is exactly how A.K. depicted fire. Denisov-Uralsky in his painting. Fire looks like a huge, terrible beast. The flame is so large and strong that the giant pines seem like toys next to it. The fire burns high above the treetops. It stands as a solid wall, through which it is impossible for either an animal or a bird to break through. Black smoke covers almost the entire sky. This hungry fire beast is about to consume the sun. It seems that in just a moment there will be darkness, where there is no place for anything living.
The artist depicted the rampant elements with such skill that the viewer sees how quickly the fire spreads, how quickly it moves through the dry grass, how the trees flash with bright flames, how the gray haze descends on the surroundings. The trees to the left of the fire are hidden behind a veil of smoke. The smoke is so thick and acrid that the sun's rays cannot penetrate through it.
A terrible, and at the same time, fascinating sight. Plumes of smoke with fire sparkling inside create bizarre images that cannot be stopped in their minute-to-minute variability. But A.K. Denisov-Uralsky succeeded.

Description of the painting by A. K. Denisov-Uralsky “Forest Fire”.
A.K. Denisov-Uralsky is a famous Russian artist. He created paintings dedicated to his native land - the Urals. The artist also has several paintings with similar themes. One of them is the painting “Forest Fire”, created in 1897.
The painting depicts a beautiful dense forest, which is engulfed in a huge fire. The elements are brutalizing the pine trees - flames rise higher than the trees, and clouds of smoke are like the paws of a terrible hungry monster that is going to devour the entire sky.
Once upon a time, man tamed fire - it began to warm the home and facilitate cooking, but in the picture we see how terrible and dangerous this unpredictable element can be. This is exactly how the author depicted fire in the picture, free and strong. The flame is so huge that the trees seem like dolls in comparison. The flame moves like a wall, burning everything in its path.
We see that on the right the entire forest is on fire, everything is burning - grass, small fir trees, and huge mighty pines. The flame is ominous, red-orange. And to the left there are still lonely trees, choking from smoke and awaiting their inevitable fate. Almost half of the picture above the forest is occupied by clouds of smoke; it is so thick and impenetrable that sunlight cannot break through it; only a couple of rays reach the foreground of the picture.
We don’t know the cause of the fire; perhaps a person was to blame for not extinguishing the fire, or it was all due to lightning striking a dry tree. But we see what a terrible, destructive consequence a fire brings - the entire forest will burn out.
However, puffs of smoke with tongues of flame also have their own alluring, dangerous beauty. They are changeable and unique, create unusual images and captivate the eye. They beckon and attract you, it’s not for nothing that they say that you can look at the fire forever.
Despite the danger and destructive effect, fire also has a cleansing effect. The forest will burn, but in a few years new trees and shrubs will grow in the place of the fire. A new forest will appear - young and fresh. After all, in nature everything is interconnected, and everything is beautiful, no matter how terrifying it may seem to a person.

The main topic with which A.K. worked Denisov-Uralsky - the unforgettable nature of the Urals, because this is his native land. In his work, one can note another painting, which depicts a fire in the forest. Apparently, the inspiration was so great that the author decided to devote several of his works to this topic.

The painting “Forest Fire” shows the real elements. Looking at her, it becomes scary and creepy. You begin to think about how pitiful and helpless a person is at the mercy of nature, especially when it is raging. She sweeps away everything in her path, sparing no one or anything. One can only guess how the fire depicted in this picture started. Perhaps someone was lighting a fire, and a spark that fell on dry grass started the fire. Maybe it was very hot, dry summer. This weather is characterized by frequent forest fires. In any case, the spectacle made a huge impression on me.

The flames are like a terrible beast from which there is no salvation and it is impossible to hide anywhere. The smoke from the flames is shown so high that it rises to the skies, even higher than the pine trees, although they reach a height of several tens of meters. Plumes of smoke are shown different colors: from gray-ash to almost black, graphite color. Smoke disperses in all directions. The sky is also drawn in a dirty gray color, as if it reflects the ashes of a fire.

The wall of flame is simply terrible, it is impossible to get through it. Near the ground, fire is shown as a purple-orange color with yellow highlights. The higher it rises, the more different shades we see. In any case, even the sun's rays cannot penetrate through such a dense smoke screen. The color scheme is shown surprisingly realistically. There is no uniform color here; the artist constantly moves from one characteristic tone to another.
